About Zelda

Zelda Fae – Fae for how small she was compared to her brother on every ultrasound – is the most daring, adventurous little baddie you could pack into a girl her size.

Her water broke early and she was born via c-section less than a minute after Orin on May 2nd 2015 – six weeks early and weighing only 3 lbs 11oz.

Unfortunately the reason she was so small on all the ultrasound was because she had a heart defect where the aorta is too narrow and she wasn’t able to pump out enough blood to keep her body functioning. We found this out four weeks into her NICU stay and immediately she was transferred to Children’s here in Atlanta for non-emergency heart surgery.

After the surgery she immediately picked up and began blooming into the feisty like spunk we know her as now! =) I never imagined that tiny little baby who only had the energy to sleep would become the most loud, daring, dangerous kid in the family and on the playground. Other parents watch her scale walls in a two leaps with the same mix of fascination and horror that I do. All I can do is shrug and spot her. 😉

Definitely this one is not going to make my life easy!!

About Orin

image

Orin Dean – named in honor of my husband’s maternal grandfather and sharing Korey’s middle name as well as his father’s – is hands down the sweetest and most sensitive of all my children.

image

He was born via c-section (after his twin sister’s sac ruptured) on May 2nd, 2015 weighing 5 lbs 8 oz and six weeks early!

image

He spent only two weeks in NICU before he got to come home. He was such a little trooper throughout the entire experience. Little did I know that once he came he would be my fussiest baby too… 😉

image

But now he is nothing but a mega- sweetheart! Orin absolutely adores his sisters and isn’t truly happy unless one of them is paying attention to him. His favorite things are wrestling with Izzy, snuggling with Zelda, and trying to put things into other things – even if they don’t fit. 😉

image

Orin is such a wonderful little soul, I’m so excited to see the man he grows into.

About Izzy

image

Izora Isabella – otherwise known around these parts as Izzy – is my first born and the sweetest, silliest girl you could ever hope to meet.

image

Izzy was born April 5th, 2012 after a two day long induction and was 9 lbs 3 oz.

image

She is currently three years old and is really enjoying her big sister status. Having little siblings to tickle and tease and take stuff away from is the best!

image

Izzy also loves building with blocks and legos, going to the park, playing with her plastic dinosaurs and spiders, watching animal shows, and making jokes. Her favorite thing to do is “make you laugh” – which she does frequently with all the funny things she says and does. 😉

image

I can’t wait to see the wonderful person she develops into!

About Korey

image

Nothing I do would be possible without this man. That’s not even remotely an overstatement. He really is the best partner I could have to navigate life with – even if I occasionally want to throw him off the boat. 😉

image

Korey and I met at college orientation. He had taken such advanced math classes that he got to opt out of taking the math placement test. I was one of the first people done because I didn’t bother to even attempt solving anything after the first column – ha! Needless to say, he is as left brained as I am right.

image

Korey is a computer programmer for an awesome contracting company and he is fantastic at what he does. He also enjoys pen and paper D&D, reading, debating politics (haha… ha…), and hanging out with us on the weekends.

image

The best thing about Korey is that he always supports whatever “crazy” idea I come up with. When I told him I wanted to be a professional photographer without having ever picked up a DSLR, he asked me how much they were. When I said I wanted to write a book, he started researching publishing options. When I said we should get married, he bought a ring. 😉

image

… he also does like 90% of the chores too – which definitely rocks. 😉

About Twila

image

Oh boy – it’s not that easy to find a picture of me that didn’t come from a forward facing cell phone camera! But that’s what happens when you’re the resident photographer and your husband has no interest. 😉

image

I think my WordPress profile says something about me being a “jack of all creative trades” – and that’s basically true. I’m a photographer and a writer, I can knit and crochet and cross stitch, I love interior design and painting rooms, and I’m slowly learning to cook. But mostly you can find me under a pile of kids.

image

I have a degree in Professional Communications and I worked in market research before having children. But I always knew when I got pregnant that I wanted to spend the first few years of my children’s lives at home with them if at all possible. And luckily for me, it has been! And I have spent the past three and a half years at home now. Sometimes it seems really unbelievable (and sometimes it seems really overwhelming!!) that this gets to be my life every day.

image

In general I’m a pretty ambitious person and I’ve tried blogging before, with limited success. So I’m going to keep it simple this time around. My goal with this blog is just to catalog our lives. The recipes I’ve found, the pictures I’ve taken, the trips we go on, and the memories we make.

(There will be pictures of cute babies, anyway! ;-))
